Finalising her Master's in Education (cognitive psychology and learning practices) in July 2021. Sarah has been in the early childhood and primary education sector for over a decade. She has worked in Childcare in 2009-2012, earning her Certificate III & IV in Childcare then studied a Bachelor of Education, specialising in Early Childhood with special needs electives.
After recieving an undergraduate degree, she worked as a full-time relief teacher for a term in Dalby, then on to Bell State School for almost 3 years. She then had her first Maternity leave for 18 months then worked at Cecil Plains State School as their AUSLAN teacher one day a week for 12 months.
After her second Maternity Leave, she created the curriculum for Baby Brain Connections. It was while having her children that she realised the community didn't have any classes in the regional area that supported Pre-Literacy skills. Baby Brain Connections won a local business award in 2018.
She used her experience in her first business, Lloyd Courtney Pest Control, together with her education history to start Baby Brain Connections & Play Early Learning Centre. It created a bridge in the early literacy learning gap that they have in rural Queensland.
